No. 40 Yale Sweeps Penn 7-0
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - No. 40 Yale got back on track Saturday with a 7-0 victory over Penn to improve to 12-5 on the season and 1-1 in the Ivy League with the victory at Yale University's outdoor tennis center.
The Bulldogs swept the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, the doubles team of sophomore Vicky Brook and junior Lindsay Clark rolled to an 8-1 win over Jacqueline Wong and Alexa Ely. Senior Jessica Rhee and sophomore Stephanie Kent pulled out an 8-6 win over Emily Wolf and Jules Rodin at No. 2 doubles. Playing No. 3 doubles, junior Stevi Petrelli and senior Sarah Lederhandler cruised to an 8-1 victory over Daniela DePaoli and Emma Whitfield.
Yale won all six singles matches in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Brook defeated Ely 6-2, 7-6 (2). Kent won 6-3, 6-1 over Emily Wolf at No. 2 singles. Playing No. 3 singles, Rhee handled Daniela DePaoli 6-0, 6-4. Petrelli defeated Rodin 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, freshman Elizabeth Epstein rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Jacqueline Wong. Clark cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Emma Whitfield at No. 6 singles.
The Bulldogs will be on the road next weekend when they take on Cornell and Columbia.
