ITHACA, N.Y. – No. 46 Yale improved to 13-5 on the season and 2-1 in the Ivy League with a 7-0 victory over Cornell Friday at Cornell University. The Bulldogs did not lose a single match in the victory.
The Bulldogs swept the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles, sophomore Vicky Brook and junior Lindsay Clark rolled to an 8-2 victory. Senior Jessica Rhee and sophomore Stephanie Kent won 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Playing No. 3 doubles, junior Stevi Petrelli and freshman Elizabeth Epstein shut out their opponents 8-0.
At No. 1 singles, Brook won in straight sets 6-2, 7-6 (5). Kent took care of business in straight sets as well 6-2, 7-6 (1) at No. 2 singles. Playing No. 3 singles, Rhee cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 win. At No. 4 singles, Petrelli defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-2. Epstein rolled to a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles. Senior captain Sarah Lederhandler pulled out a 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 win at No. 6 singles.
Yale is back in action against Columbia in New York City Saturday.
