NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Coming off a victory against No. 41 Utah in the consolation round of the ITA Division I Kick Off Weekend, the Yale women enjoyed a 6-spot jump in ITA Rankings on Thursday. This week, the Bulldogs will travel south to face off against the No. 41 Vanderbilt Commodores (Saturday at 1p.m.). Vanderbilt's ranking has taken a slight hit from last week, dropping one spot from No. 19.
Vanderbilt will feature No. 50 Alex Leatu and No. 64 Rachel Dillon. The Commodores have opened their spring season with a 2-1 record, defeating No. 23 Northwestern and No. 55 Marshall, but falling to No. 9 Clemson by a 4-2 score last Sunday.
Last season, the Bulldogs fell 6-1 to Vanderbilt at home, ending the Bulldog's home winning streak at 23 straight matches. Senior Stevi Petrelli delivered the sole point for the Bulldogs at No. 4 singles in straight sets. Junior Stephanie Kent and Jessica Rhee '10 also posted an 8-4 doubles victory at No. 2 doubles.
