Columbia and Cornell to Visit No. 35 Yale
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – This weekend, No. 35 Yale (16-4, 1-1 Ivy) will attempt to get back on track in matches against the unranked Columbia (9-8, 0-2 Ivy) and Cornell (8-7, 0-2 Ivy) squads at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
Coming off of last Saturday's disappointing upset loss to Princeton, which moved the Tigers up to No. 49 in the latest ITA rankings, Yale retained the top ranking in the Ivy League but will need to get two wins this weekend to stay on track in its pursuit of the Ivy League title.
The Columbia match will take place at 12 p.m. Saturday, and should be favorable for the Bulldogs. In the first round of the ECAC tournament earlier this season the Bulldogs collected a 6-1 victory against Columbia, getting wins from sophomore Elizabeth Epstein, freshman Blair Seideman, junior Steph Kent, senior captain Stevi Petrelli, and freshman Annie Sullivan, also sweeping the three doubles matches. In their match last season the Bulldogs took victory with the same 6-1 score.
Cornell will come to Cullman-Heyman at 12 p.m. on Sunday. The squads haven't played yet this season, but in their matchup last season the Bulldogs took a 7-0 victory.
