On Second Day of Big Green Invitational, Bulldogs Dominate Once More
HANOVER, N.H. – Saturday, the Yale women's tennis team went 4-0 in doubles and took seven of eight singles matches against Dartmouth.
On the second day of the Big Green Invitational, Yale went up against the hosts and came away with a strong victory, taking all four doubles matches and going 7-1 in singles.
In the top spot in doubles, freshman Ree Ree Li combined with junior Annie Sullivan to snag an 8-5 victory over Akiko Okuda and Katherine Yau.
At No. 2, sophomores Amber Li and Hanna Yu earned an 8-4 victory over Janet Liu and Suzy Tan.
At No. 3, it was senior Sarah Guzick and freshman Madeleine Hamilton that came out on top, winning 8-4 over Julienne Keong and Ryan Reichel.
In the fourth spot, senior captain Elizabeth Epstein combined with junior Blair Seideman to win an 8-5 victory over Sarah Bessen and Christina Danosi.
In singles, the Bulldogs were strong across the board.
At No. 1, Hamilton took on Sarah Leonard, winning the first set 6-4 and running away with the second, 6-1. At No. 2, Seideman was matched up with Yau and came away with a 6-0, 6-2 win. In the third spot, Epstein knocked off Okuda 6-2, 1-6, 7-5 in a close match that featured large swings in momentum.
In the fourth spot, Yu fell to Liu by a score of 6-1, 6-1. Sullivan would win at No. 5, defeating Tan 6-2, 6-3, and R. Li won her match 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 over Bessen.
However, Guzick and Amos would clean up at the bottom of the lineup, with Guzick topping Danosi 6-0, 6-4 and Amos beating Keong 6-1, 6-0.
Sunday, Yale faces University of Massachusetts in singles.
