No. 23 Bulldogs Defeat Boston University
Hamilton Wins at No. 1
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Friday in the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center the No. 23-ranked Yale women's tennis team defeated Boston University by a score of 7-0. The Bulldogs won two of three doubles matches before sweeping the Terriers at singles.
The Bulldogs used two new doubles pairs in their lineup. Freshman Madeleine Hamilton was matched with sophomore Amber Li at No. 1 but recorded a loss, while junior Blair Seideman sophomore Hanna Yu earned a win at No. 3. In the other doubles match, senior captain Elizabeth Epstein and junior Annie Sullivan won for the second time this season at No. 2.
After winning the doubles point, the Bulldogs carried their strong play into singles, where they won all six matches. Madeleine Hamilton faced a tough opponent in freshman Lauren Davis but managed to defeat her in two sets. From top to bottom, the Bulldogs had wins from Madeleine Hamilton at No. 1, Elizabeth Epstein at No. 2, Blair Seideman at No. 3, Hanna Yu at No. 4, Annie Sullivan at No. 5 and Amber Li at No. 6. With her win at No. 2, Elizabeth Epstein moves to 5-1 on the season.
Friday's match was Student Day for the Yale women's tennis team and drew a large crowd. Sophomore Hanna Yu said after the match, "It was great to get a win in front of our supporters. We always appreciate it when people come out and watch."
