EVANSTON, Ill. —The Yale women's tennis team closed out the Wildcat Fall Duals Sunday with a tough match against USTA/ITA Central Region champion Oklahoma. The Sooners took four of five matches against the Bulldogs, as sophomore Ree Ree Li earned Yale's only win in the top flight.
Li faced Morgan Chumney, a freshman and top recruit out of South Carolina. Li took an easy first set 6-1 but lost a tiebreaker in the second before sealing the match in the third by a score of 6-4. The sophomore saw both of her Saturday matches go to three sets, as well.
Filling out the rest of the lineup for the Bulldogs were freshman Sherry Li, sophomore Amber Li, sophomore Courtney Amos and freshman Caroline Lynch. With mainstays like sophomore Madeleine Hamilton and senior captain Annie Sullivan missing from the lineup, the Bulldogs were still able to put together a solid performance. Both Sherry Li and Lynch took their matches to three sets, and Amos fell in two, but only after winning five games in each.
Northwestern's Wildcat Fall Duals marks the end of the Bulldogs' fall season. They will return to action Jan. 17 as they host the Yale Classic.
