NEW HAVEN, Conn. —Following a big weekend that saw wins over Cornell and No. 37 Columbia, the No. 49-ranked Yale women's tennis team (11-8, 3-1 Ivy) will continue its season with matches Friday and Sunday against Dartmouth and No. 47 Harvard. The Bulldogs are on a three-match winning streak and sit at third place in the Ivy League behind Princeton and Columbia.
Junior Hanna Yu has been crucial to the team's recent success, winning her last three singles matches while transitioning from No. 2 to No. 1. Senior captain Annie Sullivan has been unbeatable at No. 3, where she is perfect in Ivy League competition. Despite having not played together since Mar. 13, sophomores Madeleine Hamilton and Ree Ree Li rank No. 65 nationally at doubles.
Dartmouth is 6-8 on the season and 2-2 in Ivy play, having earned wins over Cornell and Penn. In losses against Columbia and Princeton, the Big Green's Akiko Okuda, Taylor Ng and the captain, Melissa Matsuoka, managed to win singles points for their team.
Harvard, Yale's opponent on Sunday, has also opened its Ivy season 2-2 but is 10-6 overall. The Crimson, a young team, boasts strong play at the top of the singles lineup from freshmen Spencer Liang and Monica Lin. Harvard will host Brown on Friday before traveling to New Haven on Sunday.
Both of Yale's matches will be played at 2:00 p.m.
