Yale Falls to Brown 4-3

Finke Claims Two Victories

PROVIDENCE, R.H. – The Yale women's tennis team narrowly fell to Brown 4-3 in the first match of the Ivy League season. Despite the team's loss, junior Carol Finke picked up two victories at singles and doubles

The Bulldogs took the double point after victories on courts 2 and 3. Finke and and fellow junior Valerie Shklover defeated Taylor Cosme and Mariska Chamdani 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. Senior Caroline Lynch and sophomore Amy Yang overcame Maddie Stearns and Juliana Simon 7-6(5) in the No. 3 spot.

Finke returned to the courts to play Alyza Benotto at No. 1 singles and won her second match of the day 6-3, 6-4. Junior Elizabeth Zordani also picked up a singles victory, cruising past Katie Ta 6-0, 6-3 on court 5.

Yale will next take on Dartmouth on Friday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. before competing against Harvard on Sunday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m.
