Yale Ends Season on High Note

Bulldogs Pick up First Win in the Ivy Season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's tennis team finished the season with a 4-3 victory against Columbia on Sunday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. The win marks Yale's first in the 2016-17 Ivy season.

Although Columbia took the doubles point, the match on court 3 saw seniors Tina Jiang and Caroline Lynch win 6-4 in their final doubles match of their college careers. 

Lynch then went on to win her second match of the day. At No. 5 singles, Lynch fended off a comeback and achieved a 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 victory over Addie Milstein. Junior Elizabeth Zordani and sophomore Amy Yang also fought through three-set matches. Playing in the No. 4 spot, Zordani overcame Renee Ren 6-1, 4-6, 6-2, while Yang defeated Andrea Kevakian 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 on court 2. Junior Valerie Shklover's 6-0, 6-4 victory against Ali Pollack at No. 3 singles rounded out Yale's win.

The match against Columbia concludes the 2016-17 season. Seniors Jiang and Lynch ended their careers on a positive note after winning their respective matches of the day.
