  • Martinelli Ranked as Bulldogs Ready for Blue Gray Tennis Classic

    Samantha Martinelli made her first appearance in this week’s Oracle/ITA National Tennis Rankings, coming in at No. 123 in the country. Martinelli’s upward surge could not come at a better time, as the Yale women’s tennis team will head to Montgomery, Alabama to participate in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic this coming weekend. The field consists of eight of the best teams from around the country, including Oklahoma St., Auburn, Texas Tech, Fresno. St, Alabama, Illinois and Wake Forest.

    The Yale women’s tennis team had a strong finish to the ECAC Indoor Championships, beating Dartmouth 4-1 to finish 5th in the tournament.

    The Yale women’s tennis team bounced back on the second day of the ECAC Indoor Championships with a thrilling comeback win over Harvard. After finding themselves down 3-1, the Bulldogs were able to turn it around and take three consecutive three set matches to win 4-3.

    The Yale women's tennis team had a busy day Friday afternoon, kicking off their weekend at the Big Green Invitational with matchplay against UMass and hosts Dartmouth. The Bulldogs won seven of the eleven matches played, three against the Minutewomen and four against the Big Green.

    The Yale Women’s tennis team is gearing up for a weekend trip to Hanover, N.H., to participate in the Big Green Invitational, hosted by Ivy League rivals Dartmouth. This will be the last official match play of the fall season for the Bulldogs. It also marks the first time the team will travel this year.

    Seven members of the Yale Women's Tennis team competeted at the ITA Regional Championships on Friday in both singles and doubles. Jessie Gong, Raissa Lou, Kathy Wang, and Amy Yang all advanced to the second round in the singles draw, highlighting an overall good day for Yale.

  • Yale Set to Host ITA Northeast Regionals

    Two weeks removed from an excellent showing at the Bulldog Invitational, the Yale women’s tennis team is prepared to host an even larger event-- the ITA Regional Championships. Last season, the event took place in Philadelphia, with players from more than 20 Northeastern teams partaking, including all eight Ivy League teams. The Championships will take place over six days, starting on Thursday, October 11th and concluding on Tuesday, October 16th.

Newcomers Caroline Dunleavy of the women’s team and Michael Sun of the men’s team teamed up with former professionals Lindsay Davenport and James Blake for a friendly mixed doubles match as part of the third annual Opening Night Presented by Yale.
  • Six Bulldogs Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

    On Tuesday, July 24, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the 2018 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes. The Yale women’s tennis team was named an All-Academic Team in addition to six members of the team being honored as Scholar-Athletes.

    On the heels of welcoming their nationally ranked Class of 2022, the Yale women’s tennis team announced the addition of transfer student Caroline Dunleavy, a rising sophomore who will join Samantha Martinelli, Lauren Gillinov and Sarah Cameron as the team’s representatives from the Class of 2021.
