Bulldogs Pick Up Win Against Drexel

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's tennis team picked up a stellar victory at home against the Drexel Dragons (2-3) earlier Saturday afternoon, doing so without dropping a single match.

The Bulldogs got off to an excellent start, taking the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches by identical scores of 6-3. As a result, Jessie Gong and Samantha Martinelli, who were deadlocked at four games all, ended their match early with the team already out to a 1-0 lead.

The momentum carried over into singles, with the Bulldogs winning all six singles matches. Martinelli gutted out a first set tiebreak 8-6 before putting her foot on the gas to easily claim the two set victory. Gong, Raissa Lou, and Amy Yang, combined to drop just six games in six sets. Caroline Dunleavy bounced back from dropping the first set to take her match in three, while Kathy Wang overcame a second set hiccup to dominate in the third set super tiebreak.

The win moves the Bulldogs' record to 2-1 with the ECAC Division I Indoor Championships coming up.
