Katie Granson, a former Duke star who played pro tennis for the past year, enters her first season as head coach at Yale. She served as an assistant last year. Granson graduated from Duke in 2003 and was co-captain in her final season, leading the team to its first No. 1 ranking at mid-season. The Blue Devils went on to set the school record for dual match victories, winning their third ACC team championship and making an appearance in the NCAA Final Four. Granson broke the school record for doubles wins in a season and was named All-ACC. She was also named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll for the third time. Granson was a member of the United States Junior National Tennis Team in 1998-99 and was No. 75 in the junior world rankings. She competed in the junior Wimbledon tournament, the junior U.S. Open and the junior Italian Open. A Bethlehem, Pa., native, she played for Freedom High School and was the doubles state champion with her sister, Sarah, in 1995 and 1996.
