Bulldogs Open Season With Win

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs opened their season with a 4-3 win over Boston College Saturday at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. Yale won matches at No. 1, 3, 4 and 5 singles.
At No. 1 singles, senior Janet Kim defeated her opponent Lana Krasnopolsky 6-2, 7-5. In her dual match debut, freshman Vicky Brook battled to a 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Katarina Gaji at No. 3 singles. Junior Sarah Lederhandler rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Dasha Cherkasov at No. 4 singles.
At No. 5 singles, sophomore Stevi Petrelli dropped the first set 6-4 to opponent Katharine Attwell. Petrelli pulled out the second set in a tiebreaker by winning the tiebreaker 7-3. In the third set, Petrelli secured the victory by winning the set 6-2.
The victory extended Yale's home winning streak to 14 matches with the win.
Yale will host Farleigh Dickinson and St. John's next weekend.
