BOSTON, Mass. - Yale suffered a tough loss at the hands of the Boston University Terriers today, losing 4-3. No. 1 Rashmee Patil and No. 5 Olivia Nix both won their singles matches and teamed up to win at No. 2 doubles, but it wasn't enough to get by the scrappy Terriers.
The Bulldogs got off to a promising start, as wins in two of the three doubles matches gave them a 1-0 lead. No. 2 Patil and Nix narrowly defeated Erin Katims and Yana Sadovskaya 9-8, and No. 3 Lindsey Dashiell and Janet Kim downed Danielle Abraham and Cori Lefkowith, 8-6.
In singles, No. 1 Patil came back after dropping the first set to Gina Sabatino to win 0-6, 6-4, 6-2. No. 5 Nix won in straight sets, thrashing Monica Shepard 6-1, 6-1. It was not enough to beat the Terriers, however, who took the other four singles matches in straight sets.
The match against BU was Yale's last before they head to Florida for spring break. The Bulldogs next face South Florida in Tampa on Wed., March 8.
