New Haven, CT - Yale swept the doubles competition and got two key singles wins from freshmen to beat Syracuse 5-2 at Cullman Courts. In doubles, captain Karlyn Martin and freshman Christine Alford won 9-8 (7-4) at No. 1. The team of freshmen Rashmee Patil and Aimee Kim won at No. 2, 8-0. Kim also won at No. 6 in singles. Fellow freshman Olivia Nix made her singles debut with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4.

"We got off to a good start in doubles, especially coming back at the No. 1 spot to win in a tiebreaker," said head coach Chad Skorupka. "In singles, I thought Olivia Nix making her singles debut at No. 4 and winning in straight sets was a highlight."

The Bulldogs, ranked No. 73, improve to 3-3. Their next match is in Orlando, Fla., against the University of Central Florida on March 9 at 9:30 a.m.
