Bulldogs Breeze by Cal State Northridge 5-2

Northridge, CA - The Yale women's tennis team bounced back from a loss to UC Irvine by defeating Cal State Northridge 5-2. The Bulldogs now boast a 7-1 overall record.

 

Yale conceded the number one doubles game to Cal State Northridge but won the number 2 and 3 matches to claim the double's point. The number 2 doubles team of Stephanie White and Olivia Nix beat their opponents 8-5, and the number 3 team of Reshmi Srinath and Rashmee Patil had a decisive 8-3 victory.

 

In singles play, Srinath struggled against Cal State Northridge's Silvia Gutierrez. Gutierrez won the first set 7-6, but Srinath countered with a strong comeback, completely shutting Gutierrez out of the second set. Gutierrez finally won the number 1 singles match 6-3 in the third set.

 

Patil, White, Nix and Aimee Kim all won in straight sets for the Elis. Patil won the number 2 singles spot 6-3, 6-3. White, playing number 5 singles, also won her game 6-3, 6-3. Kim easily claimed victory in the number 3 spot, scoring 6-1, 6-3 against YuYu Myinttun. Nix rounded out the group with a stunning 6-3, 6-2 win in the number 6 spot.

 

The Bulldogs will battle the Rice University Owls this Sat., Mar. 12 in San Diego.
