Yale Defeats Massachusetts 6-1

New Haven, CT - Yale (4-8) defeated the University of Massachusetts (3-9) Wednesday at home in its last non-Ivy match of the season.

With victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, the Bulldogs won the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, junior Janet Kim and sophomore Jessica Rhee cruised to an 8-1 victory over Kristin DiPiero and Tanisha Hodgson. Senior Lindsey Dashiell and freshman Stevi Petrelli defeated opponents Maude Lecluyse and Laura Murillo 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Kim rolled to a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles over Masha Pozar. At No. 2 singles, Rhee won 6-0, 6-3 over Candynce Boney. Freshman Lindsay Clark defeated opponent Kaitlyn Carpenter 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles, Petrelli triumphed over Lecluyse 6-2, 6-2. Junior Lilian Nguyen cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 win over Tanisha Hodgson at No. 5 singles.

The Bulldogs will play host to Brown this Sunday in the Ivy League opener.
