New Haven, CT - Last season the Bulldogs went through the Ivy League and defeated every team except for Penn. In its second Ivy League match of the year, Yale ensured that this year Penn will not keep them from a perfect Ivy record. Yale (6-8, 2-0) defeated Penn 4-3 Friday at home.
The Bulldogs started off the match by sweeping all three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, junior Janet Kim and sophomore Jessica Rhee defeated Ekaterina Kosminskaya and Julia Koulbitskaya, the 27th best doubles team in the country, 8-7. The freshmen team of Jessica Rhee and Lauren Ritz defeated Yulia Rivelis and Maria Anisimova 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. In the third doubles match, senior Lindsey Dashiell and freshman Stevi Petrelli edged Charlotte Tansil and Michelle Mitchell 8-6.
Kim continued her success in the No. 1 singles match by rolling to a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Kosminskaya. Ritz cruised to a 7-5, 7-6 win over Mitchell at No. 6 singles. In just her second match back from injury, sophomore Sarah Lederhandler defeated Anismova 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 at No. 4 singles.
