Princeton, NJ - The Yale women's tennis team had an outstanding showing against Princeton on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs triumphed over the Tigers 5-2. Yale clinched the doubles point and won four singles matches, sweeping three of them in straight sets. Today's win puts the Elis' record at 10-4 and gives the team a 1-1 record in Ivy Play.
Yale won the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and 3 matches. The No. 3 match was hotly contested, but the duo of Reshmi Srinath and Rashmee Patil prevailed, slipping by the Tigers with a score of 9-8. Christine Alford and Aimee Kim easily won the No. 1 match 8-3.
The Bulldogs continued to dominate on the singles court. Stephanie White claimed the No. 5 spot 1-6, 7-6, 6-4. Kim, Patil and Srinath all swept their matches in straight sets. Kim won at the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-4. Patil triumphed at the No. 2 spot 6-4, 6-3. In the No. 1 spot, Srinath easily defeated Princeton's Jessica Siebel 6-0, 7-5.
The Elis continue Ivy action against Columbia on Friday, Apr. 15 at home in New Haven.
