New Haven, CT - The Yale women's tennis team played hard but ultimately ended up a point short of defeating Columbia on Friday afternoon. Today's match drops the Eli's overall record to 10-5. Yale now stands 1-2 in Ivy play.
Reshmi Srinath and Rashmee Patil continued their doubles domination as they easily won the No. 3 doubles game 8-1. However, Columbia came back to claim the No. 1 and 2 doubles to clinch the point.
Yale swept the top three singles games, however Columbia countered by winning the No. 4, 5 and 6 singles games to edge Yale out for the win. Aimee Kim and Patil both had stellar matches and claimed victory in straight sets. Kim won at the No. 3 spot over Miriam Rahali 6-3, 6-1. No. 2 Patil dominated over Angela Hendry 6-2, 7-5. In the No. 1 spot, Srinath went 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 to victory.
Yale returns to action tomorrow, Apr. 16, when they face Cornell at home in New Haven.
