Bulldogs Win Four Flights at Fall Invitational

Members of the Yale women's tennis team won four of the six flights of the Yale Fall Invitational at the Yale Tennis Center on Sunday.

Aimee Kim won two titles for the Bulldogs, taking the C Flight of singles and teaming up with fellow sophomore Rashmee Patil to win the doubles A Flight. In singles, she claimed a 7-5, 6-3 win over teammate Olivia Nix in the final.

Kim and Patil knocked off a Stony Brook pair in the quarterfinals, 8-4, then edged Victoria Vaynberg and Catherine Zawadzki of Syracuse, 9-7, to reach the final. The Bulldog pair then won, 8-3, against Stony Brook's Catherine Valle and Sandy Wijeratne to claim the title.

In A Flight singles, senior Reshmi Srinath won the championship, defeating Stony Brook's Hana Chovanova in the final, 6-1, 6-4.

In another all-Yale championship match, this time at D Flight singles, Catherine Starr got by fellow freshman Lindsey Dashiell, 6-4, 7-5.

Bulldogs reached the B Flight final in singles and doubles as well. In singles, Patil fell to Vaynberg of Syracuse, 6-3, 6-3. Srinath and junior Juliette Vartikar reached the doubles final, where they lost an 8-5 match to the Orange's Katie Bramante and Wei Ming Leong.

The Elis travel to Houston next weekend for the Rice Tennis Classic.
