Yale Completes Second Day Of Play At Maryland Invite
Sept. 23, 2006
COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Bulldogs came out hungry in the second day of competition at the Maryland Invite, as Janet Kim continued her hot play, advancing to the finals of the A Flight tomorrow. Jessica Rhee also played well in the A draw, winning two matches to advance to the consolation finals.
Kim thrashed the University of Maryland's Marianne Baker 6-1, 6-3 to advance. Head Coach Danielle Lund was very impressed with Kim's performance against the nation's No. 69-ranked player.
"I think [Kim] played really smart and executed her shots really well," Lund said. "I told her, `That level is where you belong,' in terms of college tennis. She's starting to believe that herself, which is really the most important thing."
Yale was strong in the B singles draw as well. Lilian Nguyen won her match to advance to the finals of the main draw tomorrow, and Sarah Lederhandler advanced to the consolation finals.
Tomorrow's B doubles draw will feature an all-Bulldog battle for third place, with Kim and Lindsey Dashiell taking on Nguyen and Lederhandler.
