Houston - The Yale doubles pair of sophomore Christine Alford and freshman Lindsey Dashiell won an all-Yale final in the Gray doubles bracket at the Rice Tennis Classic, beating fellow Bulldogs Reshmi Srinath and Juliette Vartikar in a tiebreaker, 9-8 (2).
Also competing in a final was sophomore Olivia Nix, who fell by a 6-3, 6-3 score in the White singles championship match. Dashiell won her match in the White bracket by default.
In Blue singles, Srinath finished off on a winning note, defeating Zuzana Krchnakova of Baylor, 6-1, 6-2. Alford dropped a close match in the consolation bracket to Loli Aguirre-Gomez of Lee, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Senior Stephanie White won in the Gray singles consolation bracket, 6-1, 6-1, over Texas-San Antonio's Tanya Hasking. White and Nix cruised to an 8-0 win against a pair from Rice in the Blue doubles flight.
The Bulldogs return to the courts Oct. 9, when they travel to New York for the Ivy Fall Challenge.
