West Point, NY - The Yale women's tennis team began play today at the Intercollegiate Tennis Regionals hosted by West Point. Christina Cutter `09 and Aimee Kim `07 won their doubles match to advance to the quarterfinals.
In the singles qualifier, No. 4 seed Kim competed against Elizabeth Googe of Cornell. Googe defeated Kim 6-3, 6-3. Olivia Nix `07 faced No. 7 seed Alina Sullivan of Boston College. Sullivan won the match 6-0, 7-6, 7-6(4).
In the first quarter singles, No. 22 seed Rashmee Patil received a bye and will compete against Shannon Brown of Marshall.
In the third quarter singles, Janet Kim `09 received a bye and will face off against Susan Pollack of Delaware.
In the doubles qualifier, No. 2 seed team Cutter and A. Kim faced off against Amanda El-Togby and Sylvia Jaos of Seton Hall. Cutter and A. Kim won the match 8-4 and will play against Sara Schiffman and Alexis Plukas of Upenn in the quarterfinals.
Play continues tomorrow, Oct. 22, in West Point.
