Yale Earns Mixed Results at Day One of ITA Regionals

Philadelphia, Penn. - The Bulldogs began play at the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Eastern Women's Regional Championships at the University of Pennsylvania on Friday, earning mixed results. In singles qualifying, sophomore Aimee Kim convincingly defeated Virginia's Caroline Hammond in straight sets before falling to a Penn State opponent in a tight three-set match. Elsewhere in singles qualifying, sophomore Olivia Nix fell to a Marshall opponent in the first round.

In doubles action for the Elis, Nix and senior Reshmi Srinath defeated a Connecticut twosome before losing 9-7 to a Maryland doubles team in the final round of doubles qualifying. Today, Rashmee Patil begins play in the main singles draw, while Srinath begins singles play on Sunday.
