Reshmi Srinath Advances to Fourth Round of ITA Championships

With three victories under her belt thus far, Reshmi Srinath advanced to the fourth round of the ITA Regional Championships, held at Virginia Tech. Srinath defeated seeded player Caroline Stanislawski from Penn in an extremely tight 7-5, 4-6, 7-6(3) match to stay alive in singles play.
In doubles action, the sister team of Karlyn and Ashley Martin moved into the third round with an 8-3 win over UVA.
Rashmee Patil advanced to the third round of the tournament before being knocked out, defeating Marshall's Danielle Hock 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 and then Penn's seeded player Shelah Chao, 6-1, 6-3 to move into the Round of 32. But she lost a 6-2, 6-3 match there to Virginia's Slyvia Urickova.
After recieving a first round bye for being a ranked player, Christine Alford fell in the second round to Marshall's Ashley Kron, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1.
In the doubles bracket, the team of Patil and Srinath fell to UVA's ranked team in an 8-6 game, while Alford and teammate Aimee Kim lost to a No. 3 seed from William and Mary 8-6 as well. The Martin twins defeated Virginia Tech 8-2 and then bested UVA by an 8-3 score to advance to the third round.
Srinath will face No. 2 weed Nataly Cahana from Old Dominion today to try to move into the quarterfinals, while the Martins will take on Penn in doubles.
