The Yale women's tennis team received good news today when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings were posted. The Elis are No. 71 nationally as a team while some singles and doubles players were also included in either the national or regional listings.
"We're pleased to see Yale in the early national rankings, which is a result of our fall and last spring's performances," said head coach Danielle Lund. "I'm extremely excited about the upcoming season and the schedule we put together."
Eight of Yale's 19 spring semester opponents are nationally ranked (37 UC Irvine, 38 Colorado, 47 Denver, 54 Penn, 64 Loyola Marymount, 65 Marshall, 68 Princeton and 69 Cal State Northridge).
"That type of schedule not only provides us with great competition, it gives us a better chance to make the NCAA team tournament... a big goal of ours," said Lund. "We have a lot of work ahead of us to get to where we want to be, but it's rewarding to see the hard work start to pay off."
