May 1, 2009

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Janet Kim was named first team All-Ivy for the fourth straight year after being chosen as a unanimous selection for the first team by the league's coaches Friday. Junior Jessica Rhee and freshman Vicky Brook both earned second team All-Ivy selections and sophomore Lindsay Clark earned an honorable mention selection. All four were also part of the two Yale doubles teams that earned All-Ivy honors.

Kim, who has played No. 1 singles the last three years, earned first team All-Ivy after posting a 4-3 Ivy League record this season. Outside of the Ivy League in the spring, Kim went 9-4 with wins over both the No. 28 and No. 45 ranked singles players in the nation. In the fall, Kim went 10-4 and recorded another victory at the Cissie Leary Invitational. Kim, who was the Ivy League Player of the Year last season as a junior, finished this season ranked No. 115 in the ITA national rankings.

Rhee earned All-Ivy honors for the third straight year with a second team All-Ivy selection. As a freshman, Rhee was named All-Ivy honorable mention after going 7-0 at No. 4 singles in the Ivy League. Last season as a sophomore, Rhee posted a 5-2 Ivy League record at No. 2 singles and earned second team All-Ivy honors. This season Rhee went 3-4 in the Ivy League from the No. 2 singles spot.

Brook earned second team All-Ivy honors this year in her first collegiate season. The freshman was phenomenal for Yale as she posted a perfect 7-0 record in the Ivy League at No. 3 singles.

Two Yale doubles teams earned second team All-Ivy doubles selections. The doubles team of Kim and Rhee was named second team All-Ivy doubles after posting a 5-2 Ivy League record at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots. The duo of Brook and Clark went 4-3 in the Ivy League while switching off between No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

Clark also earned an All-Ivy honorable singles mention. At the No. 4 singles spot, Clark went 6-1 in the Ivy League.
