Olivia Nix has been named captain of the 2005-06 Yale women's tennis team.
Nix, a Bronxville, N.Y., native who will be a junior next fall, finished 9-8 overall in singles this spring. She was 8-7 playing in the No. 6 spot and went 1-1 at No. 5, while teaming up with Stephanie White to win eight of 17 doubles matches.
Nix becomes the team leader for an Eli squad coming off a 12-7 overall record, 3-4 in Ivy play.
She was named captain at the April 28 team banquet at Mory's. Here are the other awards handed out that night:

"Katie [Granson, assistant coach] and I want to congratulate all our award winners" said head coach Chad Skorupka. "This fall we welcome five freshmen and I know Olivia Nix will be a great role model for these players. We look forward to the start of the fall season in early September."
