New Haven, CT - Stephanie White has been named Yale women's tennis captain for the 2004-2005 season and was introduced at the team banquet April 28 at Mory's. White picked up eight singles wins for the Bulldogs this spring, including victories in five of her last six matches. She also had three doubles wins with partner Olivia Nix.
In addition to announcing White's selection as team captain, the Bulldogs also handed out their annual team awards. Nix won the special contribution award, Reshmi Srinath won the John A. Blum Award (most improved player), and Karlyn Martin and Rashmee Patil shared the Lisa Rosenblum Award (most valuable player).
The Bulldogs finished strong at the end of the season, going 6-1 for outright second place in the Ivy League.
"Congratulations to all our award winners," said head coach Chad Skorupka. "They contributed so much to the success of the season. We have a good core of players returning next season, and I know Stephanie will do a great job getting the team focused and ready to do battle."
