NEW HAVEN, Conn.--The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released its final rankings for the 2006-07 season, and the Yale women's team earned a year-end ranking of No. 73. It is the first time since 2004 that the Bulldogs finished the season nationally ranked. In addition, the Bulldogs earned a final ranking of No. 9 in the East Region.
The Bulldogs posted an 11-8 overall record in 2006-07, including a 6-0 mark at home. Yale finished second in the Ivy League with a 6-1 conference record. The Bulldogs' only Ivy loss came to league champion Penn.
In addition, the ITA released its final singles and doubles rankings. Janet Kim finished the year ranked No. 17 in the East Region in singles, while the doubles team of team captain Olivia Nix and Christine Alford earned a year-end regional ranking of No. 12.
Playing at No. 1 singles, Kim posted an overall record of 23-9 on the year. The sophomore from Palisades Park, N.J., went 5-2 in Ivy League competition to earn first team All-Ivy status for the second straight year.
Alford and Nix were first team All-Ivy in doubles, while Alford was also a second team All-Ivy honoree in singles. The seniors from Sydney, Australia, and Bronxville, N.Y., respectively, went 9-5 at No. 1 doubles, including a 5-2 mark in Ivy play.
