Bulldogs Win Five of Six Flights in Yale Invitational

New Haven, Conn. - The Bulldogs won five out of six flights at the Yale Fall Invitational to begin their 2003 fall campaign.

Junior Stephanie White was defeated by Seton Hall's Kim Barfuss 6-3, 6-1 in the A-flight finals, the only flight that was not won by a Bulldog. Senior team captain Karlyn Martin also competed in the flight, but was edged out 7-6, 4-6, 10-7 in the first round by Gabby Pasternak of Quinnipiac. Martin went on to win the A-flight consolation round.

The B and C-flights both featured All-Yale final matches. In the B-flight, freshman Christine Alford defeated her teammate 6-3, 6-4 to claim the top spot. The C-flight was won by junior Reshmi Srinath, topping Aimee Kim 6-4, 6-1.

In the final flight, freshman Rashmee Patil breezed past Jana Bartoloni of UMass to complete the Yale singles sweep.

The Bulldogs continued their winning ways in the doubles tournament. Sisters Ashley and Karlyn Martin won the A-flight by defeating teammates Alford and White 8-0. Patil and Reshmi Srinath teamed up to top Quinnipiac's Liz Axler and Kat Ehle by the same score in the B-flight finals.

Yale returns to action on Friday, September 26, to compete in the Rice Invitational in Houston, Texas.
