Four Bulldogs Qualify for NCAA Regionals

Grace, Lovelace, Duncan, Cadicamo Qualify

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – As the regular track and field season has finished, the time for National Championships has approached. The NCAA Regionals will be hosted by North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C., on May 27-29. Senior Alexandra Cadicamo, senior Claudia Duncan, junior Kate Grace and sophomore Anne Lovelace have qualified for the East Regional Championships.

Cadicamo will be competing in the 5,000-meter run. She ran a personal best of 16:44.02 last weekend at ECACs and earned All-East honors for her fifth-place finish. Cadicamo is the 45th-fastest runner in her event in the eastern region.

Duncan will be competing in the 400-meter dash.  She qualified with her school record a Heptagonals of 54.54. She is currently the 37th-fastest runner in the eastern region. Duncan has come close to qualifying for NCAAs before, but has never competed.  Duncan earned All-East honors with her sixth-place finish at ECACs last weekend.

Grace will be competing in the 800-meter run for the third year in a row. Her time of 2:05.65 is the ninth-fastest time in the eastern region, which she ran in the preliminary round of the ECAC Championships last weekend. Last year Grace's season best going into the NCAA Regionals was 2:06.75. Grace ran the fastest preliminary time at the meet (2:06.69) and then finished third in the finals. At NCAAs, Grace made it to the semifinal round (the top 18 runners in the country).

Lovelace will be competing in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the first time at NCAA Regionals. Her best of 10:27.60 is the 18th-fastest time in the eastern region. She set this school record at ECACs last weekend and made All-East for her seventh-place finish.
