Grace Advances to Finals at NCAA Championships
EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon is hosting the top college runners in the country for the NCAA Championships June 9-12. Junior Kate Grace competed in the semifinals of the 800-meter run on Wednesday, in which she finished with the seventh-fastest time to advance to the finals.
Grace finished third in her heat in 2:05.32. This is a little slower than her school record time of 2:04.22, but she like the other competitors was pacing herself for the finals in two days. The 24 runners competed in three heats, and the top two finishers in each heat plus the next two fastest runners qualified for the finals. The fastest time of the day was Tennessee senior Phoebe Wright's 2:02.98.
The finals will be held at 5:50 PM PDT on Friday. A live stream of the event can be found at NCAA.com.
On Thursday sophomore Anne Lovelace will compete in the semifinals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 6:15 PM PDT.
