Two Season-Bests in the 5,000-Meter Run
PRINCETON, N.J. – Two Bulldogs raced on the first day of the ECAC Outdoor Championship today. Sophomore Elizabeth Marvin and junior Jennifer Downing competed in the 5,000-meter run, and both delivered season-bests.
Marvin placed sixth out of a field of 28 to score three points for Yale. This total left the team in 17th place at the end of the day's events. Her time of 16:37.04 is faster than her previous season-best by seven seconds. The race was extremely competitive, with the top six runners finishing within six seconds of each other.
Downing placed 17th in 17:05.04. Previously this season, Downing ran 17:14.50 in her first attempt at the distance at Heps. Her performance today reflects almost a ten second improvement this season.
More Bulldogs will be in action tomorrow as the ECAC meet continues. The meet schedule is available here, and results will be posted on www.ecacsports.com and www.yalebulldogs.com at the end of the day's events.
