Track and Field to Host Yale Invitational

First Meet of the New Year Will Be Held at Coxe Cage

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's track and field team, coming off a strong start to the season back on Dec. 3, will take to the track for the first time in 2012 when they host the Yale Invitational at Coxe Cage on Saturday. Though the meet is unscored, it will allow the Bulldogs to see how their training has progressed since December, and helps them prepare for upcoming scored meets later in the season.

The team's freshmen highlighted the first effort of the season, and they will expect to make contributions again on Saturday. They showed that they will have no problem adjusting to collegiate competition and will be a major source of points as the season develops. Hannah AlpertEmily Cable, Anna Demaree, Alisha Jordan and Korbin Richards will look to improve upon their performances from the Season Opener. The first meet after a long winter break will help get the team back into a competitive mode, which will be important when the team faces Dartmouth and Columbia next weekend.

Additionally, the Yale Invitational will be the first track competition for Bulldog cross country runners, who sat out the Yale Season Opener to recover from their fall season.

Field events begin at 9:00 a.m. at Coxe Cage and the mile run will start the track events at 12:00 p.m. The meet website with a full event schedule, is available here. Buses for spectators will leave from Payne Whitney for Coxe Cage every 15 minutes. Results will be posted on www.yalebulldogs.com and www.tfrrs.org.
