Track Team Begins Ivy Competition
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – In the first meet against other Ivy schools, the Bulldog women's track and field team will travel to Hanover, N.H., on Saturday to compete against Dartmouth and Columbia. The team is coming off of strong preliminary performances in the Yale Season Opener on Dec. 3 and the Yale Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 14.
The Bulldog freshmen have made strong contributions so far, most notably in the jumps, throws and sprints. They will look to continue their entre into the Yale program on Saturday in their first scored meet. Hannah Alpert, Elle Brunsdale, Emily Cable, Anna Demaree, Alisha Jordan and Korbin Richards are among the rookies who are a sign of the continued strength of the program.
The Yale distance runners will also look to get back into the competitive mode as only a small contingent of them have raced thus far. Cross country standouts such as sophomore Melissa Chapman, sophomore Liana Epstein, junior Nihal Kayali and junior Elizabeth Marvin will try to adjust to their distances on the track.
The meet will begin with the long jump at 11:00 a.m., with the track events commencing at 12:00 p.m. with the 60-meter hurdles. A full schedule is available at the meet website, and events will be posted at www.lancertiming.com and www.yalebulldogs.com.
