JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - On the second day of competition in the NCAA East Regional, hosted by the University of North Florida, freshman Kira Garry represented the Yale women's track and field team in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Garry placed 42nd in 10:44.22, good for 14th place in the first heat. In each of the three heats, the first three finishers advanced, in addition to the next three fastest overall. Astrid Leutert of Florida State raced the fastest time on the day, finishing in 9:53.15. Alexi Pappas of Dartmouth was next in 9:55.89; both their times are in the national top 10 this season.
The Bulldogs' time in Florida continues on Saturday, when sophomore Melissa Chapman competes in the 5,000-meter run at 8:45 p.m.
