Chapman Races in Elite 1,500-Meter
NEW HAVEN, Conn.-The first day of the Sam Howell Invitational, hosted by Princeton University, concluded this Friday. Five Bulldogs participated in the day's events. Freshman Karleh Wilson met a mark of 41.06 (134-08) in the discus throw, a new personal best. Senior Antonia Renker also competed, finishing with a heave of 34.34 (113-00).
Meanwhile in the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Anna Demaree finished ahead of half her competitors with a time of 17:10.00. Fellow sophomore Hannah Alpert crossed the line in 17:30.00. Both sophomores had not previously competed in the event during the outdoor season of freshman year. Thus, the duo can look forward to improving on their times as the season progresses.
Finally, junior Millie Chapman-representing Yale as the sole Bulldog to compete in the meet's 1,500-meter race for elite runners-also overcame half her field to place 12th with a time of 4:36.77.
The meet with continue tomorrow at noon with the 4x100-meter relay.
