Four Distance Runners to Compete at Stanford Invitational

Garry Defends 3,000-Meter Steeplechase Record

NEW HAVEN, Conn.—While the majority of Yale track and field travels to New Jersey this weekend to take part in the Sam Howell Invitational, four distance runners will instead compete in California at Stanford University. Live results for the meet will be available here, while a complete schedule is here.

Junior Kira Garry will have her first opportunity of the season to take her place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. This is Garry's signature outdoor event and the one in which she currently holds the Yale record. She faces 54 competitors this weekend.

Two Bulldogs have also been entered in the 1,500-meter run. Sophomore Shannon McDonnell—usually the team's ace in the 800-meter run—and freshman Meredith Rizzo will race against 143 participants.

Sophomore Emily Stark is the final Bulldog set to perform at the Stanford Invitational. She will compete in the 10,000-meter run—the longest event offered in track and field—and is pitted against 73 competitors.
