SACRAMENTO, Calif.—This past Friday, Yale alum Kate Grace '11 traveled to Sacramento, Calif. to competed in the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships. The meet is extremely competitive, as it attracts some of the best athletes in the country.

Though Grace entered the race ranked eighth, she came away with a fourth-place finish of 4:09.55. This mark is just seconds off her personal best, and allowed her to beat out 20 fellow contenders—including 2012 Olympian Morgan Uceny (sixth place).

Grace's finish on Friday qualifies her to advance to the final round of competition on Sunday, where she will race against 12 other qualifying athletes. Live results for the race will be available here, while a complete schedule is available at http://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2014/USATF-OutdoorChampionships/Live-Results.aspx.

While at Yale, Grace was a four-time all American and earned three school records. She has since been sponsored by the running company Oiselle and has made a name for herself as an elite 800 and 1,500-meter runner.
