STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- The Yale women's track and field capped off a strong showing at the Villanova Invitational in the Ocean Breeze Track & Field Complex. The meet featured a great number of athletes from all across the region. While the Bulldogs only sent a contingent of athletes to the meet, the team fared well overall.
On the field, the field athletes had a number of strong performances. Junior Evelyn Roberts took second in the weight throw with a toss of 15.39m (50-06). Meanwhile, first year Tessa Malone earned a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 11.23m, greatly surpassing her previous best. She placed fourth in this event. First year Erin Gerardo cleared a height of 3.55m today (11-08), good for eighth.
On the field, the sprinters made phenomenal improvements in their respective events. In the 400-meter run, first year Addison Coy took third in her collegiate debut of this even. She finished with the highest mark on the team thus far with a time of 57.65s. First year Lauren Drysch was just a step behind her with a time of 57.71s, good for fourth place.
Sophomore Lillian Enes had a particularly great afternoon, earning a personal best in the 200-meter run with a time of 25.31s. She also qualified for the final in the 60-meter dash, placing sixth overall with a time of 7.77s.
