NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Looking to build on many strong performances from last weekend's Harvard-Yale-Princeton tri-meet, a select group of women from the Yale track and field team will be traveling to Boston this Friday to compete at the Crimson Elite hosted at Harvard.
Two of the four athletes set to travel, juniors Elizabeth Adelson and Olivia Mooney, will compete in the high jump. Last weekend at Princeton both Adelson and Mooney cleared 1.53 meters and the duo will likely look to sharpen up their techniques this Friday before heading into bigger meets in the coming weeks.
Erin Gerardo will be pole vaulting for the Bulldogs as she looks to improve upon an impressive performance that landed her second place at H-Y-P. Her runner-up finish included a vault of 3.75 meters, just shy of her personal best 3.85 meters from earlier this season.
Finally, Emma Vasen will be throwing the shot put in Friday's competition. At the Yale-Dartmouth-Columbia meet Vasen recorded the second farthest all-time throw at Yale, throwing a personal best of 13.50 meters to win the competition. Last weekend, she improved upon her personal record and came within centimeters of the Yale school record when she recorded a 14.29 meter throw. With her steady improvement throughout the season, big things are on the horizon for the first-year phenom.
The competition kicks off at 10:30 a.m., with Yale's first competitors slated to begin at 2 p.m.
