NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Despite winning seven events, Yale (66 points) lost to Dartmouth (76 points), but was able to defeat Columbia (39 points) Sunday afternoon at Coxe Cage in the first league meet of the season.
Yale had a strong showing in the longer events, nearly sweeping the one mile run. Bevin Peters was first (5:05.80), followed by Allyson Rinderle (5:05.85) and Stevie Pearl (5:06.27). Meredith Leenhouts won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:14.85 and was followed by Stephany Reaves (2:15.51). Lindsay Donaldson won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:52.90, which is fourth best all-time and the fastest time run since 1988. Kathryn Schleckser was third in the same event with a time of 2:57.93.
Katrina Castille led the way in the sprints, winning the 60-meter dash (7.72) and 200-meter dash (25.56). Courtney Miller was third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.06. Just behind Castille in the 200-meter dash was Jessica Pall with a time of 25.81. Pall was also second in the 500-meter dash, running the third best time in school history (1:16.51).
Other winners include Ashley Nolet in the pole vault (3.60 meters) and the 4x800-meter relay team (9:24.30). The 4x400-meter relay team was second with a time of 3:57.11, while Jocelyn Traina was third in the long jump (4.90 meters).
