Lederman Eighth in Pole Vault at Regionals

Gainesville, FL - Several Bulldogs were in action Friday at the NCAA East Regional, hosted by the University of Florida at Percy Beard Track in Gainesville. The top five in each event qualify for the NCAA Championship, held in Austin, Tex. June 9-12.

Yale's top finisher was Molly Lederman, who finished 8th in the pole vault (3.91m/12'10") to earn Yale one point. Princeton's Chelo Canino won (4.11m/13'5.75"). Joslyn Woodard finished 16th in the long jump (5.94m/19'6"), which Penn State's Chi Chi Aduba won (6.51m/21'4.25"). Cara Kiernan was 23rd in the 5000m run (17:00.63), which Kim Smith of Providence won (15:51.03). Vanessa Mazandi was 25th in the prelims for the 800m run (2:14.58), with only the top eight qualifying for Saturday's finals.

The regional concludes on Saturday with Bulldogs competing in the high jump at 1:00 (Lisa Wygant) and Steeplechase at 8:00 (Claire Hamilton and Anne Martin).
