Bulldogs Compete at Season Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs had a strong start to the season competing at the Yale Season Opener, Saturday afternoon at Coxe Cage. Yale had four first place finishes, including Katrina Castille, who won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.45, bettering her own fourth all-time mark of 25.49.

"They did a fine job of competing hard," said head coach David Shoehalter. "Not everything went according to plan, but it was a good start to the season."

Other first place finishers included Katherine Dlesk in the 400-meter dash (58.94), Meredith Leenhouts in the mile run (5:13.12) and Ashley Nolet in the pole vault (3.30 meters).

There were also a number of top three finishes, including Ingrid Sproll, who took second just behind Leenhouts in the mile run with a time of 5:15.15.

Jessica Pall and Maureen Lloyd took second and third in the 500-meter run with times of 1:17.59 and 1:21.07. Another third place finisher was Kristin Baxivanos in the 60-meter hurdles (9.40).

The 4x400-meter relay team of Dlesk, Sproll, Alexandra Dodson and Pall was second (4:02.06).
