March 2, 2006
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale will be traveling to Northeastern University's Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center this weekend for the Annual ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The Bulldogs are looking to surpass last year's ninth place finish in which they scored 27 points. Competition will be from March 4-5.
The following athletes will be competing:
60-meter Dash: Katrina Castille ran her season-best 7.63 at Heps last weekend and will be prepared to step it up and go under 7.60.
1,000-meter Run: Ingrid Sproll has run 2:56.95 and looks to drop her time and make it to finals.
3,000-meter Run: Lindsay Donaldson has a good chance of winning this event since she has already run 9:20.34 this season, and last year's winning time was 9:19.88 by Duke's Sally Meyerhoff.
5,000-meter Run: After an incredible second place performance at Heps, Katherine McKinstry will be looking to continue to improve on her time of 16:33.27.
Pole Vault: Molly Lederman was second last year, but is a favorite for the title after clearing a height of 4.10 meters at Heps.
Long Jump: Joslyn Woodard was fourth last year, but if she repeats her Heps performance of 6.23 meters, she will likely win.
Triple Jump: Olakitan Awolesi has jumped 11.88 meters so far and will likely score in this event.
Relays: The 4x400-meter relay team will be looking to drop their time of 3:52.18. The 4x800-meter relay team was third last year with a time of 9:03.61 and has run 9:20.48 this season. The distance medley relay team was third last year with a time of 11:39.60 and has run 11:45.46 so far.
