Bulldogs Compete at Home one More Time before Heps

April 26, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's track and field team will compete at the Yale Springtime Invitational on April 27 at the Cuyler-Dwyer Complex in New Haven. The meet is the last competition for the Bulldogs before the outdoor Heptagonal Championships, hosted on the same track two weeks later on May 10-11.

Timing is the critical factor for Bulldogs competing at the Yale Springtime Invitational. In the past, many athletes choose to skip this competition due to the proximity of the Heptagonal Championship. With two weeks to train and recover for the conference championship this year, there is much less risk associated with competing at this meet than there has been in the past, when "Heps" was the following week. Another chance to compete on the same track that will host arguably the most important meet of the season is another critical factor, and thus makes the Yale Springtime Invitational a very alluring opportunity for athletes where in past seasons it was not.

Field events will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the men's discus and end at 1:00 p.m. with the men's javelin. Track events will begin at noon with the women's 4x100-meter relay and will run in succession until completion with the men's 4x400-meter relay.
