Cat Dailey Earns AVCA Regional Honor
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — After earning First
Team All-Ivy honors in her senior season with the Yale volleyball
team, Cat Dailey has been recognized by the American Volleyball
Coaches Association as an Honorable Mention on the All-Northeast
Region Team. Dailey, who earned the same distinction in 2008, led
the Ivy League this season with 4.04 kills per set.
“Cat is a phenomenal volleyball player”, said Yale Head
Coach Erin Appleman. “It’s great to see her recognized
by the AVCA among such an accomplished group of
student-athletes”.
Dailey, the unanimous 2008 Ivy League Player of the Year, was one
of three unanimous selections to the All-Ivy First Team in 2009
after guiding the Bulldogs to a program-best 21-4 record. She was
the only player in the Ancient Eight to rank in the top 10 in
kills, hitting percentage and digs, swinging at a .266 clip with
3.55 digs and a league-best 4.04 kills per set. The Newport Beach,
Calif. native also led the league in aces with 0.37 per frame.
A history major at Yale, Dailey earned 2009 Academic All-Ivy and
ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District First Team honors
in addition to her athletic achievements.
